History | First enrollment issued at Milwaukee, WI, May 10, 18 ?On July 17, 1913, SHEBOYGAN rammed the IOWA in the Chicago River, severely holing the latter in her starboard bow just forward of the pilot house. Tugs assisted IOWA to the dock where she subsequently sank with no injuries or loss of life. The SHEBOYGAN was only slightly damaged. IOWA was later raised and returned to service. Disposition | Hull sold to Manitowoc Iron Co. in 1914. Towed into lake on September 14, 1914 by tug ARCTIC and cut adrift. Beached two miles north of Manitowoc and burned for iron. |
