First enrollment issued at Port Huron, MI, September 5, 1890.Stranded on northwest corner of South Manitou Island, Lake Michigan, during blizzard of November 26, 1898. Tug PROTECTOR and SWEEPSTAKES dispatched for assistance. Refloated herself during high water the following night, then stranded on southwest side of North Fox Island to prevent sinking. Broke in half; then completely broken up during gale on December 7, 1898. Was on voyage Chicago for Detroit with 70,000 bushels corn. Final enrollment surrendered at Port Huron, MI, March 31, 1899. |
