History Passed upbound, Port Colborne, on maiden voyage into Lakes, May 11, 1963.As SILVER ISLE: Collided with Dutch motorship PRINS ALEXANDER, June 9, 1963, during rain squall near Carleton Island, in St. Lawrence River, on maiden voyage into Lakes. Suffered slight damage above water line.
Ran aground near mouth of Detroit River, on Canadian side, May 24, 1970. Tug JOHN PURVES and barge MARQUIS ROEN called upon to lighter grain cargo. Released about September 28.
Aground in Pelee Passage, Lake Erie, May 31, 1975. Suffered severe damage to bottom tanks.
Hit lock wall below Snell on April 13, 1977, sustaining minor hull damage. Underwent repairs at Port Colborne, Ontario.
Suffered a cracked deck plate in high seas on Lake Superior in the spring of 1984.
