History Passed up, Port Colborne as NORTH AMERICAN, May 1, 1968. Used to tow barge JOHN L.A. GALSTER in cement trade, Petoskey, MI-Milwaukee, WI.As LAUREN CASTLE: While aiding cement carrier S.T. CRAPO, March 30, 1974, west of Gull Island, Lake Michigan, became tangled in tow line. As tug heeled over, nearly capsizing, two crewmen were thrown overboard and lost.
Disposition Sank in 392 feet of water, November 5, 1980, in Grand Traverse Bay, Lake Michigan, while assisting the tanker AMOCO WISCONSIN; one life lost.
