| History | First enrolled at Milwaukee, WI, May 25, 1909.Rebuilt as steam yacht for Colonel E.H.R. Green, daughter of Hettie Green. After fire at Sarnia in 1927, lay idle at Sarnia. Passed down, Port Colborne, September 16, 1929 (10:30 a.m.), under own power, for Lauzon, P.Q., for rebuilding as freighter. Had been brought back into lakes passenger trade in 1923. When initially enrolled her tonnage was listed as 1711 gross - 1040 net. Her tonnage was changed at Chicago on May 7, 1910, to 1374 gross - 811 net, with no apparent sign of a rebuild. Possible initial error in recording tonnage. As UNITED STATES: While swinging at anchor, and on calm night, vessel swung around and stove hole in bow on rocks at Padanarum (New Bedford), MA, in Buzzards Bay, and slowly filled and settled in ten hours time, on August 21, 1919. Caught fire at Sarnia, Ontario, on June 6, 1927. Dropped from List U.S. Merchant Vessels after fire at Sarnia, Ontario, on March 5, 1928. However there are no reports in Detroit newspapers on this second fire. |
