Vessel History

History In summer, 1891, loaded wheat cargo at Duluth for Liverpool, England, breaking shipment to run St. Lawrence River rapids. Then loaded machinery, Liverpool for Puget Sound, via New York. On September 8, 1892, from Tacoma, WA, for San Francisco, stranded one mile north of Coos Bay, OR, in fog, cargo of coal. Bad weather stopped salvage attempts and vessel became a total loss. Salvage attempts abandoned on September 13, 1892. Value of cargo, $9,000; of ship, $130,000; total, $139,000.
