History Built under U.S. Maritime Commission contract as an L6-S-A1 bulk carrier. Chartered to Kinsman Marine Transit Co. by Oglebay Norton, 1974.
As THOMAS WILSON: Struck stern of AUGUST ZIESING in ice in Two Harbors - Silver Bay area of Lake Superior, on April 24, 1972. Former suffered hole through both sides just abaft of stem; latter, an indented \"V\" in stern quarters; both vessels bound for Duluth.
Disposition Sold to Corostel Trading, Ltd. in 1987 for scrapping. WILSON was lost in heavy seas on December 31, 1987 while being towed. Presumed to have broken up and sunk. (CHIPS, March 5, 1988)
