History | First enrollment issued at Cleveland, OH, May 21, 1888.While seeking shelter at lower entry, Portage Ship Canal, bound from Duluth for Buffalo with 32,000 bushels wheat, caught fire in coal bunker on November 16, 1915, and burned to water's edge; no lives lost. Whitney Brothers, of Duluth, recovered wheat and shipped it to Milwaukee. Hull reportedly was refloated, towed out into Lake Superior, and scuttled. |
