History | Authorized as YT 388; reclassified YTB 388 May 15, 1944; later reclassified YTM 388. On loan by General Services Administration to University of Georgia, at Savannah, GA, 1975-1977, but never operated by them.As SHANNON: Had an engine room fire about three miles west of Cleveland. According to the Coast Guard, the fire is believed to have started when fuel oil caught fire after a mechanical malfunction. It took two hours to put out the fire. Damage is estimated at $250,000. The crew members were rescued. The incident occured on July 24, 1979. |
