History As AUGUST ZIESING: In collision with steamer STANDARD PORTLAND CEMENT, sinking the latter, two miles above Port Huron, MI, in fog, May 20, 1960.Grounded in fog, two hundred yards above Rock Cut, St. Marys River, swinging around and blocking channel, September 13, 1968. Lightered and released September 15th; towed to Gary, IN, by steamer JOHN G. MUNSON.
In collision with THOMAS WILSON, in Two Harbors-Silver Bay area of Lake Superior, on April 24, 1972, in ice. An indented \"V\" in starboard stern quarter of ZIESING, and bow damage to WILSON; both vessels bound for Duluth.
Disposition Sold to Hyman-Michaels Co., of Duluth on July 1, 1984 for scrapping.
