Rebuilds Reduced from packagefreight/passenger propeller to lumber carrier, 1890 (385 gross - 282 net).
History Broke machinery while traveling on Lake Michigan in July 1871, $2,000 loss. Damaged by collision in Chicago Harbor in May 1873, $10,000 loss. In collision with schooner KNIGHTS TEMPLAR at Oswego, NY, $400 loss. Ran aground on Feather Bed Shoal, Straits of Mackinac, $500 loss. Ran aground at Fighting Island, Lake Erie, on March 23, 1882. On December 4, 1893, ran aground at Toledo, OH. Caught fire, sank, and raised again at Toledo; $5,000 loss. Sank and raised at Cleveland, OH, on May 23, 1906.
Disposition Foundered about fifteen miles off Huron, OH, near Pelee Island, Lake Erie, on September 27, 1906, with consorts NEGAUNEE, MONTPELIER, and DONALDSON in tow; two lives lost. NEGAUNEE also lost. Crew of CITY OF CONCORD made Cedar Point in yawl boat. Crew from steamer VISITOR removed the spars on November 7, 1906.
