- History: First document issued May 13, 1959.
As SHENANGO II: In collision with steamer CHICAGO TRIBUNE, September 29, 1960, in fog five miles below Port Huron, MI, in St. Clair River. Ran aground in 24 feet of water; released same day by tugs. Accident resulted in cracked shell plate.
As CHARLES M. BEEGHLY: Grounded at Johnson Point in St. Marys River about January 26, 1978; with Coast Guard assistance, cleared navigation channel and proceeded to DeTour for lightering. Grounded in Duluth harbor on December 22, 1978, while downbound and loaded.
April 27, 1984, got caught in heavy ice and unusual currents and went crossways in the channel. Her stern hit the breakwall and it took tugs five hours to free her. Stern received extensive damage but all above the waterline.
