Rebuilds Lengthened at Fraser Shipyard at Superior, WI, spring, 1975. Dimension and tonnage change, May, 1975 (729.33 x 70.16 x 31.25; 13796 gross - 10827 net). Converted to a self-unloader in 1982 at Fraser Shipyards of Superior.
History Ran aground on mud bank at Birch Point - Brush Point intersection, Upper St. Marys River, in fog; July 18, 1961. Gotten off after lightering. Struck stern of Coast Guard icebreaker WESTWIND on January 31, 1979, while latter vessel was breaking path through Lake Erie ice for ANDERSON near Ashtabula, OH. Had bow holed from about 29-foot mark upward 12-15 feet, main and forecastle decks buckled.
