Vessel History

History Stranded on Simmons Reef, Lake Michigan, on November 11, 1936, by being pushed on by ice. While salvaging cargo of gasoline, January 1, 1937, small vessel MAROLD II, was destroyed by explosion that killed five men. BOYD released following spring as constructive total loss and towed to T.L. Durocher yard, DeTour, MI. Towed from DeTour to Detroit, passing the latter, in tow, on July 15, 1942, to be scrapped by Great Lakes Steel Co.
