Vessel History

Rebuilds U.S. Army Corps of Engineers measures as survey vessel, 1899 (158.5 x 18 x 10; 200 displaced).
History Received first enrollment at Buffalo, NY, July 3, 1896. Redocumented in 1933.
Sold to U.S. Navy on May 30, 1898 and commissioned as a patrol vessel on June 22, 1898. USS ENQUIRER served a patrol duty out of New York, between Newport, RI and Seabright, NJ until decommissioned on August 9, 1898. She was transferred to the War Dept. on July 20, 1899, and assigned to survey work in the Buffalo District, Corps of Engineers, on August 28, 1899.
Disposition Removed from documentation in 1941. Scrapped just above the New York Central Railroad bridge at Port Clinton, OH, in 1942-1943.
