History Launched as LT-833 for U.S. Army.Passed down, Welland Canal, June 21, 1973, with barge MARQUIS ROEN in tow, bound for LA.
As SHAWNEE: Scraped sides with tug ARRAPAHOE on August 8, 1975. On August 13, 1975 reportedly collided with the Guatemalan PETER II.
Grounded on San Andres Island on April 7, 1976, after propeller fouled while she was assisting another vessel. Declared constructive total loss. Was assisting Panamanian tanker POLARIS 1, which had grounded after dragging anchor following engine failure in moving from anchorage to San Andres port during bad weather.
