Vessel History

Rebuilds Navy measures, 1935 (165 x 23.75 x 8; 416 displaced). Documented measures, 1946 (154.16 x 25.25 x 12.50; 367 gross - 249 net). Tonnage change, 1960 (376 gross - 256 net). Rig changed to yacht, 1964.
History Stationed at Norfolk, VA, in 1934-1935. Acquired by U.S. Navy on November 8, 1935; renamed AG-25, November 11, 1935; renamed POTOMAC, January 30, 1936; commissioned at Norfolk, VA, March 2, 1936. Used as Franklin Delano Roosevelt's yacht, 1936-1940. Condemned as unseaworthy as she proved top-heavy with additional equipment added. Decommissioned on November 18, 1945; transferred to Coast Guard on November 23, 1945, and removed from Navy Register on February 25, 1946. Served as patrol boat for State of Maryland, then as ferry boat between San Juan, P.R. and St. Thomas, V.I. Sold in 1962 for conversion to travelling historical museum of Roosevelt era. Reportedly acquired in January, 1964, by Elvis Presley and given to St. Jude's Hospital, Memphis, TN.
Disposition Dropped from documentation in January/February, 1970, and endorsed \"Motor Boat Number Awarded.\"
