Vessel History

History Vessel was built on hull of sidewheel steamer MISSOURI built at Erie, PA, in 1840. Had been abandoned and dismantled at Erie several years before. Was raised in 1868 to be rebuilt as OAKLAND.
Disposition Vessel foundered off Conneaut, OH, Lake Erie, on September 18, 1883; was bound from Bay City, MI, for Erie, PA, with lumber. Final enrollment surrendered at Cleveland, OH, on September 30, 1883, and endorsed \"vessel sunk and abandoned.\"
