History First enrollment issued at Buffalo, NY, November 11, 1837.Chartered to Canadian colonial government from November, 1838 to August, 1839, though never registered in Canada. Renamed during that period as SIR JOHN COLBORNE.
Disposition Wrecked at mouth of Kalamazoo River, MI, Lake Michigan, on November 17, 1842; nine lives lost. Engines salvaged the following year and transported to Detroit, MI, by the steamer ILLINOIS, and placed in new steamer NILE.
