Vessel History

History Chartered to Chicago and South Haven Steamship Co. for July 4th week-end, 1907. Chartered to Chicago Navigation Co. during summers of 1909 and 1910, and converted to excursion vessel by planking over car deck and adding slot machines. Rejoined car ferry fleet at Ludington on September 8, 1910, and was lost on first trip thereafter.
Disposition Foundered c.twenty miles off Sheboygan, WI, Lake Michigan, September 9, 1910, bound from Ludington, MI, for Milwaukee with 29 rail cars aboard. PERE MARQUETTE 17 stood by to pick up survivors; 29 of 62 persons on board lost, 33 saved; P.M. 17 lost two of her crew while making the rescue.
