History Built as C1-M-AV1 class cargo vessel for U.S. Maritime Commission. Was to be acquired as AK-216 by U.S. Navy, but ending of World War II made this unnecessary.
Disposition Ran aground off coast of RI on January 7, 1962, inbound from Searsport, ME for New York. Declared a constructive total loss and refloated on January 16, 1962. Offered for sale \"as is\" at Brooklyn, NY, and sold to Witte Marine Equipment Co., Inc., Rossville, Staten Island, NY, for scrapping.
