History Boiler exploded on Lake Superior, June 23, 1911, killing 1 man. Driven ashore in \"Big Storm,\" November 9, 1913, 5 miles east of Copper Harbor, MI, Lake Superior; bound up light, Midland, for Fort William. Salvaged and towed to Port Arthur; beached for buyer \"as is;\" stayed there until A.B. Mackay interests purchased her in 1915.Stranded in dense fog, November 17, 1927, on Saddlebag Island, Lake Huron, 8 miles west of Detour, MI; bound Milwaukee for Fort William. Abandoned as constructive total loss, November 20, 1927. Salvaged by T.L. Durocher Co., of Detour, MI, and reduced to barge.
Disposition Broke away from tug RICHARD FITZGERALD, September 26, 1930, during storm on Lake Michigan. Foundered in 25 feet water, 2 2/3 miles north of Muskegon, MI, .4 miles off shore; five lives lost. Bound from Detour for Muskegon with breakwater stone at time of loss.
