History As EDWARD C. WHALEN: Stranded off mouth of Barchawana River, Lake Superior, on June 8, 1954, bound from Midland, Ontario, for Fort William, Ontario. Released on June 13, 1954 and foundered in tow off Corbeil Point. Register closed on March 7, 1955. Raised on July 5, 1957, and towed to Fort William, Ontario. Sold to A.B. McLean & Sons; towed to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, where hull was stripped and sunk in McLean's slip. Raised in 1958 for conversion to diesel tug. Not completed and registered until 1966.As JOHN MCLEAN: Reconstructed and repowered in 1966.
As ADANAC: Repowered with engine from ROD MCLEAN in 1996.
Stationed at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
