| History | Foundered in 45 mph gale, 13 1/2 miles, 288 degrees from Cleveland Light (main entrance), off Avon Point, Lake Erie, on October 17, 1936; twenty lives lost. Seven crew members rescued by steamers THUNDER BAY QUARRIES and MARQUETTE & BESSEMER NO. 1 the following morning. Vessel was en route from Pelee Point for Cleveland with construction sand. Hull located by Corps of Engineers survey vessel PEARY on December 3, 1936. |
