History First enrolled at Duluth, MN, on August 20, 1890. Shortened by Empire Shipbuilding Co., Buffalo, NY, for trip through canals to coast in 1907.
As 107: Sunk at dock while loading wheat, Duluth, MN, December 6, 1890.
As BOMBAY: In collision at East Boston, MA, on January 20, 1911. Captain Oli Aarson washed overboard off Virginia Beach, VA, on February 12, 1912.
Disposition Sank five miles northwest of Handkerchief Light Vessel, Nantucket Shoals, January 3, 1913, after springing leak in 45 mph gale. Sank in six fathoms of water; cargo of coal, from Newport News for Boston; crew saved. Final document surrendered at Belfast, ME, on June 7, 1913.
