History | Lanunched as FLORENCE; renamed prior to enrolling.First enrollment issued at Cleveland OH, August 3, 1869. In tow of propeller HESPER, line was dropped off Two Harbors, MN. Anchors dragged during 50 mph gale and line from tug snapped. Vessel drifted onto north side of west breakwater, pounded and sank, breaking in two. Crew was rescued from rigging by tug ELLA STONE the following morning. Incident occurred on October 30, 1896. Final enrollment was surrendered at Cleveland, OH, on April 19, 1897. |
