| History | First enrollment issued at Detroit, MI, August 1, 1863.Final enrollment as propeller surrendered at Detroit, MI, October 15, 1875, and endorsed \"Vessel Lost.\" Rebuilt as schooner NELSON BLOOM and enrolled at Port Huron, MI, on April 25, 1882. As METEOR: In collision with propeller PEWABIC, sinking the latter, on August 9, 1865, in Thunder Bay, Lake Huron. Reached the Soo on August 10, 1865, and was discovered to be on fire -caused by vessel leaking and lime in cargo catching on fire. Vessel scuttled in Soo Lock to put out fire on August 11, 1865. Repairs made at Clark Dry Dock, Detroit. Burned on June 7, 1873 while tied to Buckley's dock, at the foot of 2nd Street, Detroit, MI, and sank. Raised in early September, 1875, and on September 10, 1875, was towed to the foot of Belle Isle. Machinery and hull was sold at U.S. Marshal's sale on April 24, 1876, with Stephen B. Grummond, of Detroit, MI, purchasing the hull for $480. |
