Rebuilds U.S. Navy measures, 1898 (145 x 22 x 11; 545 displaced).
History Purchased by U.S. Navy on April 2, 1898 and commissioned on April 5, 1898. Assigned to North Atlantic Squadron, blockading Cuba; attacked and destroyed Spanish cargo vessel ALPHONSO XII in June, 1898. Decommissioned at Norfolk, VA, on September 14, 1898. Loaned to Ohio Naval Militia in 1900; transferred to New York Naval Militia at Buffalo on August 3, 1909. Decommissioned on May 21, 1919; redesignated IX-14 on July 1, 1921, then recommissioned on April 16, 1922, as part of 9th Naval District. Decommissioned on February 14, 1940.
Disposition Sold on February 25, 1940, to Indiana Salvage Co. and scrapped at Michigan City, IN, in 1940.
